Accessibility Statement

What standard does this website aim to meet?

Serenity Scalp Spa aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at Level AA. Those guidelines are the internationally recognised standard for making web content usable by people with a wide range of abilities, including visual, hearing, motor and cognitive differences.

Accessibility is treated as part of building the site rather than something added afterwards. Conformance is reviewed whenever pages change.

What specific measures have been taken?

• Semantic HTML throughout — real navigation, main, section, article, header and footer landmarks rather than generic containers.
• A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
• One clear h1 per page, with heading levels that progress in order and never skip.
• Text and interface colours checked against the WCAG AA contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text, including over photographic overlays.
• Every interactive element reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring in the brand accent colour.
• Escape closes the mobile menu and any open dropdown, and focus is trapped inside the mobile menu while it is open.
• aria-expanded and aria-controls on every disclosure control, and aria-current on the active navigation link.
• Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful image, and empty alt attributes on decorative ones.
• Form fields with associated labels, required-field indication, and error messages linked to their inputs.
• Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels throughout.
• Full respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting: when it is enabled, animation is switched off entirely rather than merely reduced.
• Video that never autoplays, with native controls and no motion until you press play.
• A responsive layout that works from 320 pixels wide upward, without horizontal scrolling.

Why is there no accessibility overlay widget?

Overlay widgets — the floating accessibility buttons that promise instant compliance — frequently interfere with the screen readers and assistive technology people already use, and they do not fix underlying code problems. This site deliberately uses none. Accessibility is implemented in the markup itself, which is what assistive technology actually reads.

What limitations are we aware of?

The embedded Google Map on the contact and about pages is a third-party component whose accessibility is controlled by Google. The full address, phone number and opening hours are always available as plain text next to it, so no information is only obtainable through the map.

The chat widget is provided by a third-party booking platform. If it presents a barrier for you, the callback request form on the contact page and the studio telephone line are equally direct routes to an appointment.

How do you report an accessibility barrier?

If any part of this website is difficult to use, please tell us. Email carisa@serenityscalpspa.com or call (951) 412-2234 during opening hours, and describe the page and what happened. There is no wrong way to report it.

Accessibility reports receive a response within five business days. Where a fix is needed, we will tell you what we plan to do and when, and we will offer another way to get the information or complete the task in the meantime.

Is the studio itself accessible?

Serenity Scalp Spa is located at 28751 Rancho California Rd Suite 204, Temecula, CA 92590, with free parking directly outside. If you have questions about access to the suite or need an adjustment to how your appointment runs, call ahead and we will make arrangements with you before your visit.
